Hearts of Gold Service Dogs is a nonprofit organization located in Morgantown, West Virginia near West Virginia University. The organization trains service dogs for veterans with mobility and psychiatric impairments.
Under the WVU Honors EXCEL Program, I designed and implemented a community engagement project to analyze social media usage in a nonprofit organization as well as implement strategies to produce a positive impact.
Among the new content I strategized and created for Hearts of Gold, I included Training Recaps to showcase what the service dogs in training were learning, Successful Placements of service dogs being matched and placed with a veteran, as well as highlighting each dog in the program by sharing ‘Dog Profiles’ for followers to get a chance to see the personality each pooch has!
Prior to this project, the Instagram Page had not been updated within the past 3 years and the organization had never used Twitter. After consistently posting content for Hearts of Gold on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for four months, analytics on each platform increased!
